Francis will forever be the greatest of the greats to me.  While growing up I never knew the bravery of the kind man at our family gatherings.  I will never forget him taking us kids for rides in his Ford Model-T or his passion for learning and life.  He was a graceful skier despite a bad leg from the war. While growing up and attending family functions the bravery of this man nor what he and his brethren accomplished during the war was ever discussed.  Questions to my mother from me about his bad leg were answered with a simple he was in the war. The humbleness of the men and women who sacrificed so much during that time has made a profound impression on me.

Peter Travato was a great hockey player for the University of Massachusetts and in his senior year he and a group of supporters formed the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund.  Pipes to Honor is dedicated to promoting and supporting this organization.  My Uncle Francis was an educator after the war and offering all of my proceeds from  piping  to the MSL (Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund) seems to be the perfect fit to carry on his passion for education. . Please click on the photo below to learn more about Francis and his times in the 82nd Airborne.

God bless all the men and women who have served in these trying times since 9/11 and may we someday have everlasting peace, as Francis recently told me “we should all love one another.”
